So I have an older Dell Desktop with the below details... was pondering any advantage what so ever to migrate to an SSD?

The only primary issue I have is that it does take a long time to boot and have times where things lock up if doing video editing, etc.

CPU
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 @ 2.33GHz 115 °F
Yorkfield 45nm Technology
RAM

Motherboard
Dell Inc. 0M017G (CPU 1) 106 °F
Graphics
DELL SX2210 (1920x1080@60Hz)
DELL SX2210 (1920x1080@60Hz)
512MB ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series (Dell) 130 °F
Storage
465GB Seagate ST3500418AS ATA Device (SATA) 85 °F
931GB Western Digital WDC WD10EZEX-08M2NA0 ATA Device (SATA) 78 °F

Before any cloning operation, you need to discover the reason for these lockup issues.
Cloning to a new drive may just move the problem to a faster drive.

342GB = a 500GB SSD
Crucial 525GB - $150

An SSD will breathe new life into your system, but only if those lockups are due to the actual drive, and not some other issue.

An SSD will ALWAYS help. It can make a PC feel brand new. I had an old laptop and put an SSD in it and everything loaded faster. To conclude, yes I would recommend getting an SSD.
PS: Your boot times will be way better

Well, I don't see a need to rush out and change the system its working fine other than longer boot times and very rare lockups.

Current drive amount is at 342gb of 450gb.

Well probably under $300 - don't think I could buy a new system for that.

I cannot really recreate it.. the lock up could be a video issue as it has to do with launching a video - i.e. one way I think I can recreate is if I take 4k mp4 files and try to open in the windows media player... sometimes it opens fine other times not.

Cloning to an SSD won't fix that.
It will help in all other areas, though.
