Ps4 extra storage and pc

i have a WD easy store 8T external hard drive i put all my storage from ps4 on it and then tried to put the external to laptop to get files on storage form laptop im running out of space its only a 1T hdd so the win 10 says its there but have to format i dont want to because if i do will it work on my ps4? microsoft and Sony need to get it right plug n play id all we need....Help please ok so i formated it on my laptop to work as a exFAT so i put some files on there and plugged it to ps4 and ps4 said i had to format it so i did and then put it to pc again and nothing didnt show up i wonder if i can make partions for my exHDD?

It's not a good idea to create multiple partitions for an external storage media since it just increase the failure rate. As it stands you tend to move a portable drive a lot and the creation of partitions only adds to the stress onto the drive. That being said, you should really consider having the drives separated for each platform. The data might yet be on the drive but it's also possible that the drive may loose the data since you had fiddled with it.

Last bit of info, you could make your external HDD into 2 partitions but not more than that as a last resort.

It wouldn't hurt to improve punctuation.

what i was trying to say is why cant i use it on pc and ps4 back and forth,the drive is formated as exFAT why do i have to keep reformating it im also using windows 10 =(
