I reached out to the community five years ago to help me build a gaming machine for my then, senior in high school. The build has held up pretty well over the years and now I'm back for more help. He is now graduating from a graphics design program and I wan't to get him started with something more suited for game and graphics design. He uses the usual suspects, zbrush, photoshop, 3ds Max, etc.and currently has two 1080p Asus monitors ( I forget the model). He's still an avid gamer and streamer, but this machine should primarily support his design needs. I have scoured some of the other similar threads and put together a list of parts, although I have to say I am behind the curve on what is the better bang for the buck. I like the AsRock mobo's and would like to stay with them. I am wanting to build around an AMD Ryzen 1700 and may overclock up as high as the 3.7-3.8 range, but nothing over. Oh, and I would like to keep my budget around the $1500.00 range, but looking for any suggestions where I may be wasting money or can tweak to get make financially viable performance improvements.

That build looks decent but read all the bad reviews on the motherboard. I usually don't take stock in user reviews but when their that many bad ones it sort of throws up a red flag.
A B350 board will OC those processors just the same they hit a wall in the 3.9 4.0 area.

Always on the new AM4 boards only buy memory from their QVL their rather picky.

You should also be using a small SSD for a dedicated scratch drive.
