Upgrading from i5 2400 to i7 3770 in 2017

Is it still worth it to upgrade from i5 2400 to i7 3770 now?

Im only a student so upgrading my pc to 6th to 7th gen is not an option. I have gtx 1050ti and i sometimes i reciever framedrops but not so much that it bothers me. Is it still worth it to upgrade to i7 3770? Cause next yr im planning to sell my gpu then buy 1060 and i fear my 2400 will bottleneck it. Pls dont be confuse

Yup, 2400 will bottleneck 1060 on most new games.
Going to I7 3770 is good as long as your mobo supports it (you might need BIOS update for that, update the BIOS first before replacing with I7 3770) and as long as you can still get one with reasonable price (new or second-handed).
I7 3770 might be an issue on few new heavy AAA games but would be still ok for the vast majority.
I would say finding a working I7 3770 with reasonable price is perhaps your greatest problem. If you can find one, I would do the upgrade.
