So I recently overclocked my i7-4790k to 4.4GHz core on 1.19V, and my ring 4.1GHz on 1.15V. I ran prime95 for 24 hours and everything was stable. But now I'm beginning to understand that I properly should have seen if I could go higher on my ring ratio. So is the performance boost I would get from getting a higher ring ratio, Worth the 24 hours wait? My max temperature during the 8k to 4096k test was 86C°

86C is a pretty high temp. You should be looking at improving your cooling or reducing your VCore and/or multiplier. The performance difference of 0.1 to 0.3Ghz increase is less than 10%. Unless you are constantly maxing out your CPU. I doubt you'll notice the difference in daily usage.

Ring bus overclocking on Haswell and skylake based architectures doesn't really do a whole lot, there are many benchmarks out there that show hardly any performance gain from increasing the ring bus clocks. Just overclock the cores.
