I'm planning on getting 8gb of additional RAM and an SSD but I'm not too sure what is and isn't compatible with my PC or if that's even a problem also I'd like recommendations on what I could get.

I currently have 8gb of RAM and 930gb of storage (I don't think that's relevant)
My mobo is an asus H97M-E
The rest of my specs:
CPU: i7 4790k
GPU: nvidia gtx 1060 6gb

Here's the link to my mobo: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H97ME/

Thanks,
Biz

Mixing and Matching RAM can be kinda finicky. It does not always work even if you get RAM of the same model. This is why RAM is sold in kits as they are tested to work with each other. My suggestion would be to get a 16gb kit (2x8gb) and sell your current RAM. As for the model, Intel is a little better about compatibility, so most of your standard DDR3 RAM should work, but go to your motherboard's memory support list and pick RAM from that list if you want to be sure.

As for SSD, the Samsung 850 EVO is the most popular SSD in the world and is priced competitively. I would go with it.
