Hey, I've recently decided that I want to upgrade from 1080p 60hz with my 1070 to 1440p 144hz with a 1080ti. I already have the money for a 1080ti and am actually going to pick one up later today because I found a GREAT deal on a new ftw3. I have already decided that my platform of choice will be Z370 because I don't feel like waiting for zen2. If I were to go out and gather my money together right now I would be able to buy the 1080ti and an 8700k with a high end mobo. This would mean that I would not be able to pick up a new monitor for a while (I would be spending almost all of my money on the pc). I frequently play games such as Ark, Heavily modded Skyrim, Fallout 4, and because of the 1080ti Destiny 2. My question is would it be worth settling for an 8600k instead of an 8700k for this system so that I have more money for a monitor or should I just bite the bullet and go all in, and would I even notice a significant difference between the two? I have a very set budget because and I just want to know how to make my money go the furthest. Any advice would be appreciated.

I do not know how those games compare to Battlefield 1, but I would say get the 8700k because my 6800k (not a typo. The x99 Broadwell CPU) @ 4.2 GHz almost gets maxed on BF1.

Here is an example of what I'm talking about. Notice how he doesn't quite get 144 fps and experiences stutter because his 8600k (@ 5.2GHz! ) is pegged: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOtlgTjBvZU

Both my and his experience are on 1440p res.

Games will only get more demanding as time goes on. BF1 is an extreme example, but I'm glad I got the 6800k instead of the i5 or standard i7 of the time because it means I won't have to upgrade for a couple more years. Also, I can stream, record, edit, and export game footage with it.
If it's purely gaming machine, and for 1440p, 8600K is absolutely enough. Also, since you're going to buy 1080ti already, it makes not sense to stay at 1080p 60 Hz, you would be wasting this card power. If you were to keep 1070 for now, my advice would be different: get 8700K now, and swap GPU/monitor at same time when you get money.
