Hello fellow Tom's,

As stated in the title, I have to restart my computer every time to regain internet connection. When trying to repair the connection without restarting, it says something about DNS servers.

Fine, but here's the kicker. My computer is hardwire via ethernet. And I'm still loosing connection - while my brothers, one down the hallway, and another one down stairs, are able to connect to the internet without issue when my connection goes awry.

And yes, I have tried power recycling multiple time and changing different eithernet port on the router- but in the end, a restart is the only solution.

Any idea on how to fix this issue?

Solution
When it disconnects, try typing these 3 commands into command prompt (Windows key > cmd > enter)

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /renew

Also, which version of Windows are you using?

Are you using any third party security such as AVG? They can block internet.

This

is an old version but Ccleaner can possibly help. Something may be starting when Windows does preventing your PC from connecting.

Thanks a lot! I did this when my internet was acting wonky and it seems to fix the problem. So far, no disconnect yet!

indulge me though, why such a simple thing like this fix such a huge error?

You got an error message which tells you have the computer is having problems with its DNS. A local issue just on that PC alone probably, so the router isn't to blame. Commands 1 and 3 dump and renew your IP address with so you don't have to restart your PC (this occurs when you start/shutdown), while command 2 clears your computer's DNS cache which I'm pretty sure was corrupted.

Interesting. I know a bit about hardware but when it comes to networking, it minus will be learning how to do open heart surgery. but with that insight, it has really let me grasp the concept as to why i need to restart to make my connection good again. thank you again.
