Do i need a mouse pad?

Solution
There is one thing that certainly goes to mousepad's favor (textile): it won't wear out the mouse feet so quickly as wooden desk. Depending on the mouse you have, this might be worth considering. Cheap mice are usually replaced anyway from time to time so it should not bother you, but if you have an expensive gaming mouse with teflon feet, replacing those can easily cost as much as a quality mousepad.

No. I've been using mouse for gaming without mousepad on a wooden desk for years.
I only started using mousepads after I got problems with inconsistent mouse movements (on some parts of the desk the mouse cursor would move with reduced speed and it started affecting my accuracy).

Need? It depends on your mouse.
There mice which can be used on almost any surface, there are mice, which are really picky about the surface.

Is it regardless better with mouse pad even if your mouse can handle any surface?
Yes, it is about accuracy and decoration purposes.

Wooden desk or simulated wood-grain surface is fine - that's how I use my mouse.

Mouse mats became largely redundant with the demise of the old ball mice (remember those?), though people still buy mouse mats just for the picture or design printed on them. I've never felt the need for one, though the type which incorporate a wrist-rest still makes sense (to reduce the risk of RSI).

Yup! Decoration
I have just bought the 80-90cm long mouse pad just for the look.

as for, if the mouse can work well on wooden surface, I have still a mouse which will make the windows cursor to jump here and there on wood. I am still keeping it for emergency but the mouse I am using can work without problem on wood.
