Hi guys! For the past few months I have been experiencing a strange problem. When I press the power up button of my computer it won't do anything. It doesnt happen very often, like 3-4 times in a couple of months but I can't figure out what is causing this. When this happens, I give it a second try right away and it starts up with no problems and I can't say I see any problems even in gaming. My PSU is 2 months old and very good quality but my previoys one was very bad and I had some problems that may have damaged slightly some other components. All the other components are 2 years old. Should I get worried? I don't even know if it's a hardware problem at all like maybe sometimes I don't press the button hard enough but what do you think guys... Wattage are good,I checked them in BIOS. The only thing I can think is slightly damaged mobo or slightly damaged power button because my case is not ver good quality.

The good news is, the is NOT likely to be a problem with your PSU. It is VERY likely just a problem with the pushbutton switch.

That front On / Off button is a very simple momentary-contact switch, just like a doorbell button on your house. When you push it the contacts close; when you release it, they open again. Likely what is happening is just that the switch contacts have become dirty, either from foreign dirt or more likely from simple oxidation of the metal inside. The solution will be to replace it. For now, since it happens not too often, you might just decide to tolerate it and not worry. If you're handy with repairs, you could contact the makers of your case and order a replacement switch, then install that. Or, you could...

When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs. List them like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:

Since you had a PSU prior to the current one, you should include it's make and model as well.

Or, you could obtain any other switch of a similar electrical design that you could adapt to fit in place of the old one.

Another option is to recognize that the RESET pushbutton is exactly the same type of switch electrically. So, you could go into your machine to the Front Panel header at lower front of your mobo. There you find the two leads from the Power Switch, and the other two leads from the Reset switch. Swap the two sets (polarity does not matter for these switches). Then your front panel button labeled "Power" becomes your Reset switch really, with the problem that sometimes you have to push it several times for it to work. But your front panel Reset button is really your On / Off Power switch and it works all the time.
