Hey all,

I am debating building a new system for gaming (DCS World 2.0) and VR (Oculus Rift) very soon, but I need to make sure that 1) My system can be safely OC'd on air to 4.8ghz or so. And 2) That my case can fit the mobo and chosen air cooler without smacking ram or the case side panel.

I know about the poor termal paste on the Intel chips, and would rather not mess with delidding the chip. Sounds complicated and dangerous.

Proposed system is: Intel i7 8700k, ASRock Fatal1ty Z370, CRYORIG R1 Ultimate, G.Skill Trident Z 32gb DDR4 3333mhz, Asus ROG Strix 1080ti, Biwin 64gb SSD (for OS), WD Gold 2TB 7200rpm HD, EVGA SuperNOVA 750w all inside a Fractal Design Meshify C.

I'm trying to stay away from a full tower for a smaller profile since this PC will be in my living room. Needs to be quiet, smallish but with good cooling.

Really apreciate feedback on the build.

SR,

I'm aware there is no guarantee. 4.8ghz is not an expectation, but more the goal/hope. I will check out the R1 Universal. Thanks for the input.

Any idea if the R1 Universal would clear the case? I'm having a hard time finding accurate dimensions to compare the case interior with the cooler height.
