I currently have a 500GB HDD which is close to being full and I was wondering whether to buy an SSD or an HDD, I know that an SSD is good to run programs faster and an HDD is used just for storage, I use my computer for both gaming and work, i mostly play games like Overwatch, League of Legends, CS:GO and Fortnite BR.

I was hoping someone could recommend me an SSD or an HDD, my motherboard is an Asus m5a78l-m just in case there may be some compatibility issues.

I found one HDD that looks promising

For SSD Im willing to pay up to £50-£60

Depends on how much space you need vs how fast you want your storage to be. The HDD you linked is pretty good, it'll get the job no prob. But an SSD for the same price would be about 128GB, maybe 160gb if you find a sale. You may consider a SSHD, basically an HDD with a small about of SSD storage on it, like this one : https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01ICLGJ8U/ref=twister_B01M9FJLN5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 The way it works is that it saves you most frequently used applications to the SSD portion dynamically.

Thanks for this recommendation! I will probably buy this, should i transfer my os from my current hard drive to this sshd?

Don't do it. Go for a pure SSD, not a SSHD. As long as you're planning to also utilize the drive for work-related activities you'll never regret the substantially increased performance of a SSD. The SSHD will prove a disappointment - you can be assured of that.

Yes, I know the cost of a SSD will be considerably more than the SSHD, but if the disk-space capacity of a 500 GB SSD will meet your needs, it's really the ONLY way to go. Virtually any 500 - 525 GB SSD will blow the SSHD away in performance. You'll never regret it. Go for it.
