which CPU is better?

im making a PC mainly for gaming and video editing and stuff like that, i have narrowed down to two choices i.e the i5 8400 and the R5 1600. which is better paired with an RX 580 8GB? the ryzen motherboards are very cheap in my country and i really like the features on them. another question, will using a A320 motherboard instead of a B350 or X370 limit the performance?

I went with the 8400 and a Z370 board , my preference , but if your on more of a budget go Ryzen 1600 , but get a B350 board.

how do games perform on 6 core ryzen vs 6 core i5? 6 core i5 still doesnt make any sense to me, last time i checked i5s were only quads
