What pcie cables

I have a gtx 1080 with a 8 pin and 6 pin connector. I’m going to get some cables from cablemod for my build. So I would get a 8 pin pcie and a 6 pin pcie right? But most psu’s have an 8 pin connector for pcie like mine. My question is if the 6 pin pcie cable (one from cablemod) is 8 pin to 6 pin, or 6 to 6. If it’s 6 to 6 pin will it connect to the 8 pin port on the psu?

if you get a six pin PCIe cable, they don't occupy all the pins in the eight pin connector for the PSU, but it is the same connector yes.

You could also get a 6+2 pin connector to be ready for a future behemoth card.
