mobo: z270m PRO4
cpu: I7 7700K
gpu: gtx 1060
ram: 8gb ddr4

for some reason, I am not able to OC this i7 without it constantly crashing. I have a Noctua NH D15 cooler and I want to set the 7700k to 4.8ghz which is reasonable. The first thing I did was set the voltage to 1.25 but it crashed during furmark CPU test. I then set it to 1.3v but it still crashed, I then set it to 1.35 and it crashed again. I put the voltage to 1.38 but yet again it crashed. I have seen people put their 7700k to 5ghz with 1.3v but mine just keeps on crashing what do I do?

furmark stresses the gpu not the cpu mate. so dial back your volts. run tests like cinibench and superpi 32m to test your cpu/mem stability.

also its only silicon lottery winners that are getting over 4.6-4.7.

lastly your overclock isnt needed as your gpu isnt bottlenecking your cpu. i know the likes of jaystwocents say its free performance but in reality its not.
your running the cpu at higher frequencies which means your having to put more electricity into it, you have to pay for that and it can add as much as $40/£30 a quarter to your bill.
so for the 1-5 fps you might get in some games its certainly not worth the outlay

Well you may have lost the silicon lottery and getting 4.8GHz simply isn't possible for your chip at any sane voltage. Another possibility is you're getting a lot of Vdroop and your voltage is dropping lower than the value you're setting when the CPU is under load, in which case you may want to increase your load line calibration setting. You might want to check with CPU-Z to make sure your CPU is actually running at the voltage you specify when you are doing the stress test.

I see you are increasing the Vcore, but what are the temps? You keep going up and up, but no where do I see the temps. It could be crashing because it's too hot. And as mentioned you might not have a chip that can hit 4.8. Try for 4.6GHz and see what happens. But just increasing the Vcore and hoping to hit a number is a good way to fry your chip.

1. In the Furmark, I use the CPU burner to test my CPU and I also forgot to mention that I used Cinebench
2. my PSU is a cx 550m
3. whilst doing my CPU bench test at 4.8ghz before it crashed my max temps were between 67-71 depending on each core
4. My core voltage on CPU-z shows it is at 1.365 volts at stock, is that normal? as during my OC, it was similar to this. I think it may be due to the CPU load line calibration due to it being at auto. At stock settings should I set it to level 3-4 for lower voltage?

(update) I switched the voltage to 1.225 volts but it still jumps to 1.29?
