What cpu should i get??

hello! i have a Lenovo h50-55 and i want to upgrade the cpu, i have already upgraded the GPU and the PSU. SPECS:

Processor: AMD A10-7800 Radeon R7, 12 Compute Cores 4C+8G

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050

RAM: 8.0 GB

Operating System: Windows 10 (build 14393), 64-bit

POWER SUPPLY: evga 450 b1

Is it possible to upgrade the CPU without upgrading the motherboard?

What CPU is the best i can buy for around 125$??

Save up, there's no CPU I'd recommend buying for that older socket, get around $300 to get a Ryzen 1200, B350 motherboard and at least 8gb of DDR4 RAM.

That is an FM2+ socket motherboard. CPUs that fit that socket are not that great at gaming performance, aside from the fact that the BIOS might not support any CPU better than the A10, so you would have to update that first before adding a new CPU. Really, not worth the trouble. I agree with WildCard999 in this.

DDR3 isn't compatible with the new AM4 AMD CPU's. If you want to reuse your current DDR3 then look at a used Intel Haswell/Devils Canyon (socket 1150) CPU and motherboard. Don't buy a AMD FX as they really weren't that good even at release.

Anything DDR4 2666mhz (or faster) that's compatible with a B350 motherboard.

TBH the best answer I can give you is maybe, Ryzen is very finicky with memory and getting it to run at the correct speed however it should work.
