So I had installed 16 gigabytes (2x8 g series ripjaw) onto my asus z97-a gaming motherboard. I had put them in the correct spots, according to the manual, and my computer kept restarting without bios. I then put them right next to each other and now it works like a charm. Is this bad? Will it harm anything?

Well you can use the two slots right next to each othe if you want, it wont hurt anything.

If you want to troubleshoot why dual channel mode is not working. First thing I would try is clearing the CMOS, the process will be in your mobo's manual. You can also try DIMM slots 1 and 3, this is dual...

Well it wont hurt anything but you will be running the RAM in single channel mode, which can lower performance in some applications. Put the RAM back into the slots the manual recommends then go into the BIOS and enable XMP mode then restart and see if it boots.

The issue is that if I have them in the correct slots then my bios doesn’t even show up. It just turns on then off without displaying anything on screen repeatedly
