Due to a recent ram failure, my computer now has 8gb of ram. I wanted to buy a single stick of the ram i have right now, but i could not find any, but i did find a 2x4 set of ram that is the same as my current ram. Could i use those 3 sticks to get 16gb?

Yes it will work. If it is the same brand and speed. Make sure to put the 2 sticks in the same channel(not same slot obviously) and the one stick in the other channel.
