Ok so i got a bunch of new parts i am looking to upgrade my pc with but i would like to use the same hdd. My parts are as follows:
Old-
intel i5 4460k 3.2ghz
1600mhz ddr3 ram
Asrock b85m pro3 motherboard

New parts i wish to replace these with-
Intel i5 7600k unlocked 3.8ghz
2400mhz ddr4 ram
Asus prime h270 pro motherboard

I am a complete novice builder so I have no idea what would happen if i just switch the parts and turn it on. Can i just hook up my hdd and expect it to work? If not what do i have to do to ensure it will all work properly?

Keep in mind i have no optical/cd drive, i just got the computer with windows 10 already installed. Nor do I have any cd keys or anything of that nature to re install windows 10.

Thanks guys!

You need to make sure that the old PC your running has the Windows 10 linked to a Microsoft Account. It will make Activation easier when you move to the new PC. It may or may not boot with the old HDD Windows install.
