HDD won't format no matter what I do

I recently purchased a 2TB SeaGate Firecuda to expand the amount of storage on my computer. I got around to installing it today, attempted to format it, and was greeted with a plethora of different error messages.

This was my first time doing something of this sort, so I didn't know exactly what I used doing heading into disk manager, but it asked me if I wanted it to be a GPT or an MBR. MBR was the default so I went with it. The guide I was following suggested I use GPT, so I tried to convert the disk to a GPT, and ultimately recieved an error message. I don't remember the exact error message, but I looked up how to fix it. I tried two different third party programs to try and do it, Aomei and EaseUS, both of which encountered the same problem.

So, I thought to myself, let's just try and format the drive and see if that works. It didn't. I encountered two error messages here, the Fatal Hardware Error that seems to target Seagate drives, as well as one that says there was a problem with I/O something or other.

I did the CHKDSK /R command in the command line without realizing that was going to repair my C: drive and not my E: drive, where my new 2TB HDD is located. It reached 21% and sat there for a while. I went out for an hour to find that no progress had been made. I have performed a hard restart now, skipped the disk checking and am now staring at a screen that says "To skip disk checking, press any key in 6 seconds." It was like that for about 2 minutes, at which point I did another hard restart, which prompted windows to diagnose the problem, perform a restart, and bring me back to the disk checking screen, which I have now skipped. I am presently waiting for it to complete this "skipping process."

The hard drive is brand new and had nothing on it. Was it just a DOA, or is there some way to fix it?
