Video card won't send signal to monitor (I've looked in other threads)

I can't find the right info in any thread. I have an AMD xfx r9 280a video card. When I plug the HDMI cable into the slot on the video card there's no signal. When I put it into the MOBO it works fine. I took out the card out, and put it back it, I made sure everything is plugged tightly, I reset the CMOS, I went into the BIOS to make sure it's not going to on board graphics (it's not) and i'm just out of ideas. Please if there's anything else I can try to fix this, please help and tell me. This problems happened after moving the computer, but I was very cautious. Are there any other troubleshooting techniques I could try? Any info helps. Thanks.

If you have a modular power supply make sure that the other end of the power cables going to the card are firmly seated in the power supply. Fans will turn on from slot power so that is not a good indicator that the card is actually getting all the power it needs to run correctly.

Might also want to just pull the card and then reinstall it. Might just be a poor connection on one of the gold contacts for some reason.

Also, remove your memory and then reinstall it. I've seen a lot of cases where a loose memory module created problems like this where there was clearly power everywhere but no video signal. It's not terribly difficult for memory to get loose while moving the system, especially if it wasn't locked in well to begin with or...
Without knowing your exact card model there's not much anybody could possibly tell you. Look for an identification sticker on the card that offers the model number.

Is this card new to the system, new at all? Is it an older or used card? Has the card been proven to work in another system and YOU saw this?

Is the card installed in the PRIMARY PCIe slot, the long one closest to the CPU?

Does it have sockets on the card for supplemental power and if so are they connected to the power supply?

What is your motherboard model number? Should be right on the motherboard somewhere.

I updated the post with my card model. It's AMD r9 280a. I bought it new a couple years ago and it was working until recently. There's nothing newly installed in the PC also. It's installed in the primary pcie slot. The motherboard says the slot is pcie 1. It has an 8 pin connection and a 6 pin both plugged in firmly and in place. The fans move and everything but I just get no signal. The motherboard is an ASRock H97M Anniversary

"This problem happened after moving the computer,.."

So it worked before?

You changed no hardware in between?

If so, that suggests to me either:
a) card failed (why?), or
b) motherboard slot got damaged (seems unlikely too)

*At this point I suggest you try to:

1) borrow a different graphics card, and/or
2) test that card in a different computer, and/or

3) try a different OUTPUT from the card if possible (DVI, DP), and/or
4) try another "x16" slot if the motherboard has one

It's weird, I already re seated the video card but it didn't work. Now I did it again and it's working. Thanks.
