Hello all, Im currently upgrading a 5 yr old Gateway DX 4870

PSU Lite-on ps-6301-08a 300 watt
Graphics:Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
Chip:Intel(R) B75 Express Chipset
DDR3 ram 6gs (more on the way)

The MB is a Acer IPIMB-AR with one pci express slot. My question is the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti going to work with this older system? I realize the PSU is minimal, I have a used 430 thermaltake 430 lying around I could install.
Thanks

Solution
The specs of your system show http://www.findlaptopdriver.com/specs-ipimb-ar-7h27292011/
this said, I would try it, but if it doesn't work don't be terribly surprised.

with pre-builts it is a crap shoot

I strongly suggest you make sure the bios is up to date and the place you buy the card has a good return policy

that said it should work

yes you should swap the psu out

Thanks for the quick response:

Yes it's a crap shoot.
The Bios (I still call it that) doesn't appear to have a update. So there's no option to disable secure boot and enable legacy. So chance's are the card would run but not display.

Update:The issue seems to be newer cards that are not compliant with the older BIOS and will not work on this Acer IPIMB-AR MB

Only non-UEFI compliant cards will work . I confirmed this by installing a old NV Geforce 210 which worked fine with the new drivers available. The EVGA GeForce GT 610 2gb is supposed to work as well but this is only a slight improvement, they say over the integrated Graphics.

So I might as well build my daughter what she wants. ;)
Solved.
