Hello,
I am currently running a 6800K on the ASUS X99 Deluxe-II with a Corsair H100i V2. For thermal paste I use Arctic Silver 5.
Ever since I installed the CPU, I've noticed that after a few days, the thermal paste becomes spread a lot thinner than normal and shows the IHS very clearly as you can see here. The idle temps go from about 35-37 degrees to ~45. I've completely cleaned the radiator and all the case fans and it still happens. What causes the paste to be spread this thin and is it bad? I've ensured that the cooler is completely screwed down (but not overtightened) on all the corners and I am using the correct LGA2011 standoffs. I've also tried doing the pea sized dot and line method. Both with the same results.
I somewhat recently upgraded from a 4690K and it was never like it.
Thanks for any help.
