If one uses an SSD, does every program has to be installed in it?

Hello experts, intermediates and fellow amateurs,

I was planning to use an SSD as my PC has become slow of late. I got some basic ideas of SSD installation but I was unsure if every program that needs to be installed has to be installed in the SSD or in the HDD. I'm using a Seagate 1TB HDD and was planning to lighten the storage before cloning into a 120GB SSD.

Since I also wanted to make it a gaming rig of sorts, it's quite obvious that I'll install quite a few heavy ones. As such, I would be really grateful if one you could tell me if I need to get an SSD of higher capacity or if I can simply install games in the HDD.

Thanks

Solution
go with a 256g ssd. with windows 10 you lose 30-50g on a standard install of the os. with any ssd you dont want to fill it more then it can do it trim and other features. if you over fill a ssd it slow down.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm using a Windows 7 though, it's compatible with most of the games, isn't it? Anyway, my question remains, can I safely install games in the HDD while keeping the SDD for the os stuff?
