I want to prepare for the 4k @ 144hz monitor due to be released next quarter. I know games haven't caught up yet but I wan't to be prepared.

So my question is should i wait until the middle of next year for the next GPU's or just load up with 4 x 1080 ti's?

Solution
there will be no 4K@144Hz anytime soon.
the next standard will be 4K@120Hz.
there is no single card that can do 4K even 60Hz in every game with maxed out settings.
moreover, there is no output on the GPU that can do over 4K@60Hz. not important how many of them you connect together.
so you just buy whatever you need now and upgrade later. might take a year or more for those monitors to show up

There are barely any games that actuall give you more than a 30% performance increase with sli without issues. Most just give poor scaling, a lot of tearing, worse performance and whatnot. Also you cannot do more than 2x 1080ti's.
If you really want the biggest and baddest option out atm that might do 4k 80fps on high then the new titan volta is it.

I wasn't aware about the the new Titan V. Would the one be sufficient for the future?

The Titan V is not geared toward gaming, it is geared towards AI/deep learning.
