%100 CPU usage in game using i5 7600k @ 4.7ghz (Overwatch)

Hi, I have a 7600k with a gtx 1070. I have been noticing lately that in big fights with lots of players my fps has been dropping from the 150s to the 70s-80s, looking into this I believe that my CPU is bottlenecking my gpu as when playing in big fights my cpu is always at %100 and gpu is at 90. I didn't believe overwatch was such a cpu intensive game but now i am having second thoughts thinking i should've got the 7700k. So it would be helpful if anyone could shed some light on why this is happening thanks

I never had this kind of problem when I had my i5 6600k along with my current gtx 1070. Are you sure your not throttling due to over heating either your cpu or gpu?

i don't believe so because I have a nzxt kraken which keeps the temps about 40 - 50c when under load and the gpu is a strix so it has a good cooler and never goes over 70. I'm having the same problem.. except I changed my fan to a liquid cooler and now my usage is at 50% in a web browser and 100% in a game.

I believe I could have found a solution. Try booting in safe mode... then check your CPU usage.. if it's still overloaded than it might be your hardware... if its normal usage, then its more than likely software. You should try not factory restoring, but reinstalling windows.

I understand that. Try doing other things that usually drive your cpu up. My thing was opening google chrome. or opening sony vegas. Test out what it is thats making your cpu jump up and try it in safe mode besides games.
