I would like to install an audio card into my Dell Inspiron 3268 (small form computer - i5-7400 processor), but the current existing power supply does not have the PCI-Express connector for my card. Thus, I would like to purchase a power supply replacement for my my computer. Can someone suggest the specification that I would need to look for when purchasing a power supply? Any recommendations would be much appreciated. Thank you so much for your help. :)

The audio card I purchased is ASUS PCI-Express XONAR_DX

PS: Below is the power info my Dell manual

Input voltage 100 VAC to 240 VAC
Input frequency 50 Hz to 60 Hz
Input current (maximum) 3.0

It doesn't use a PCIe power connector, that sound card uses the type of connector we used to use for 3.5" floppies.

This adapter will take power from one of the SATA headers on your PSU and give you the correct connection at the end. Since there are only three SATA connectors on that PSU, I am assuming one is free, if not let me know.

Hi Mark RM,

Thanks so much for the reply. Yes, the floppy connector was what I tried to refer to. I looked at my power supply and there was no extra SATA connector to spare. Can you advise? Thanks so much for the help. :)

Hi Mark RM,

Here are what I see being connected from my power supply to motherboard - a 6-pin (rectangular shape), a 4-pin(square shape) and a 4-pin single straight line . Nothing else coming out from the mini ITX power supply. Any advise? Thanks so much.

I took a picture of the connections, it's a bit hard to see, but hopefully you can see the white pins

Do you see where that multi wired cable is going in beside the blue cable into the drive on the top of the picture there? That's a sata power cable, you would unplug that and use the wires I linked to split that into two new heads, giving you the capacity to then plug in the second cable I linked for the power to your card.

We're talking so little power used here that this is perfectly safe.

Thanks Mark RM. Just need a confirmation from you that I understand it correctly. That SATA cable was connected from my motherboard to my internal hard drive. I can purchase those adapters to split the SATA into two heads and use the converted floppy head for my audio card. Is this correct?

Thanks so much for your help. :)

no, the sata cable coming from the motherboard is the blue one and carries data only, no power.

The one beside that with the red/black/yellow/orange wires is the sata power. That is the cable you connect the wiring I provided as described above.
