Earlier, I posted about my new build that I hope to get, and received a reply about my CPU cooling not being the best, as it may interfere with my ability to overclock. What I'm thinking of is a Corsair Hydro Series H100i V2 (Here) or a Noctua DH-D15S (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608072). I am very unsure, as the SPEC-APLHA gaming case I plan to get supports both. Any suggestions?

What I have planned right now is:

Case - Carbide Series® SPEC-ALPHA Mid-Tower Gaming Case — Black/Silver

GPU - GeForce GTX 1080

CPU - Intel 7th Gen Intel Core Desktop Processor i7-7700K

Cooling - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO RR-212E-20PK-R2 CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan

Motherboard - ASUS ROG Maximus IX Code LGA1151 DDR4 DP HDMI M.2 Z270 ATX Motherboard with onboard AC Wifi and USB 3.1

RAM - Currently using in current rig - 2x8gb ddr4

Storage - SSD | Samsung 850 EVO 500GB - HDD | Seagate Barracuda 2TB (2016)

PSU - Cooler Master V750 - 750W Compact Fully Modular 80 PLUS Gold Power Supply

The thing about that case is it only supports 156mm tall CPU cooler. So either you'd have to go with a budget cooler like the Cryorig H7 or a 240mm AiO. You won't be able to fit the NH-D15S.

*I used the Cryorig H7 on my i7-7700K and it was a great value running at 4.5GHz. But then playing AC Origins I kept seeing 80C+ on max temp. So I upgraded to NH-D15S. Even with that I could only comfortably run 4.7GHz and even it saw 80C+ playing AC Origins. Only after delid did I see significant gains in temp.

I should also mention I see no performance difference gaming with 4.5Ghz vs 5.0GHz. I would get the Cryorig H7 over the Hyper 212; and I would only get the H100i if you didn't like seeing 80C peak temps.

You're right I believe it would do just as well as the NH-D15S. But the OP has messaged me with this video @05:50 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkC2UYsMvUU&feature=youtu.be saying the case actually has more room to fit the NH-D15S. I can believe it because I've seen cases that have more room than specified.

But the Scythe Mugen 5 or Scythe Fuma would for the most part be just as good as the NH-D15S.

You said that a NH-D15S wouldn’t fit inside of a SPEC-ALPHA. I disagree. At 5:50 on this video https://youtu.be/EkC2UYsMvUU it shows that there is some extra room. I’m still wondering ehat the best option would be.

I think I might opt to use the DH-D15s - it has more customer reviews (5 stars) and it looks like it is reliable.
