Hey guys,

I get the error in the title while troubleshooting, I know its pretty common, since there are a tom of posts here, however nothing helped.

So observations from me, and what I've tried:
Wifi devices work, and my laptop too (tried the same cable from my pc to laptop and works fine)
When I restart my PC the ipconfig /all gives the router info (with routers name, ip etc. that matches with my laptop where internet works) but the internet doesnt work, but after trouble shooting it just shows my network card info (realtek and so on). Just thought it was strange and wanted to share in case it helps.

Tried pinging the ipv4 adress from the list, 8.8.8.8 and got only "General Failure" errors.
Tried all of the suggested commands i.e. flush dns, in normal and safe mode.
Deleting, updating, changing, downloading drivers for the network card didnt work.
Disabling ipv6 didnt work.
Tried to enter the adresses manually in ipv4 setting from the laptop with no avail again.
Scanned pc with antivirus (webroot) and malwarebytes, tried hitman pro but it needs internet.
Tried the option "Network Reset" in windows 10 options.

The Internet worked fine yesterday. After booting the PC today I was greeted with that lovely yellow triangle. Frustrating as it is I had this problem before (I think it was connected with Win10 updates, which i resolved eventually, but now, I dont see any updates in my logs).

When you run ipconfig from the working laptop and compare to ipconfig from your non working desktop (assuming you have a desktop), are you getting different IP addresses for the laptop and desktop themselves? You should see in the wireless adapter section on the laptop and in the Ethernet adapter section on the desktop the following:

IP v4 address:
Subnet mask:
Default gateway:

In most home settings the only difference in these numbers is the IPv4 address, and more specifically the last number in the address. Confirm this is the case or post your addresses. Feel free to substitute numbers so you aren't giving your actual numbers (in the off chance someone knows your public IP and can use this against you).

And when you entered the addresses manually, did you make sure you entered an IPv4 address that was different than any other device on your network? So for example my home uses 10.1.10.1 to 10.1.10.254 addresses so if I have a working laptop with 10.1.10.2 I would enter something nowhere near this on the desktop just to test it... say 10.1.10.192. That way there is very little chance I use the same address as another device.

yes the last ipv4 numbers differ laptop has 192.168.178.2x and pc has 192.168.178.6x
although as I've mentioned when i reset the network device (through troubleshooting or manually) it changes to 169.254.132.187

192.168.178.1 is the DNS for the laptop (did the same manually for pc so it shows the same) and when I return to automatic settings for ipv4 for pc seems like there is nothing, just "fec:0:0:ffff:1%2" and so on (the ip is changed too, to: 169.254.132.187(Tentative)). However if I restart the PC and do nothing with internet settings (and keep them automatic) the DNS is the same as the laptop and IP looks normal again.

Yes, tried a few times, plugged it out, counted to 10 and turned it back on. I've tried putting the same LAN cable from my PC to my laptop and it worked with no problems. Also in the router settings, I see that my computer is connected with the same IP from ipconfig /all

Was not sure what adress should I use, so I've put a random one. After restart, no changes. The ipconfig /all shows me the same physical adress before the change

ok, can you manually enter in the IPv4 information into your Ethernet connection:

IP: 192.168.178.203 (or some other random high number for last 3)
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
default gateway: 192.168.178.1
DNS: 8.8.8.8

Don't need to reboot, just try going to a website.

I guess I could buy one tommorow if there is no other way. In the meantime gonna leave the pc unplugged over night to see if that helps

Did a system restore to few days ago. It works now, my antivirus was stopping from doing it, so tried it in safe mode and it worked. I guess some software was messing things up
