Ryzen 5 1400 Vs I5 7400

I'm unsure what CPU to buy out of the ryzen 5 1400 and I5 7400, I would be playing games such as CS GO, team fortress 2 and sometimes other games such as rust. After watching videos it seems the ryzen is better for non gaming applications but still good at gaming whereas the i5 is better at gaming. I might make a YouTube channel at some point which may also change what I should get. Despite the i5's higher FPS, I may not notice this on a lower refresh rate monitor. Useful factors might be operating temperature and which ones might last longer.

If you can help me with this choice, thanks

With a mid range graphics card, you can go either way.
It is when pushing a strong graphics card at high frame rates that cpu single thread power comes into play.

yes, the i5 gets more fps in almost all games. but, when you drill down into the fps difference, it's not enough to really change the player experience in any appreciable way vs the ryzen cpu. i'd recommend the ryzen.
