CPU Cores running too hot, freezing PC when games like CSGO run high FPS.

Hey Forum,

Recently my computers been acting up when I play games. Games like CSGO when FPS is capped at 300 crashes after a few minutes of play time. If I cap it at 60 fps, I can play for essentially as long as I like (with a few exceptions - crashing).

I took a look and used programs like OCCT to find out what the problem was, my CPU cores run too hot! It only takes a few seconds doing an OCCT test for one of my cores to get up to ~90-100 C°.

In an effort to fix this, I completely cleaned up my desk underneath where my PC sits. - which was quite dusty and cluttered. I also cleaned out the inside of my PC making a good effort to get all dust out of the system. I reapplied thermal paste to my CPU and here we are with the same problem!

I bloody hope that this isn't a problem with my CPU because I don't want to get a new one - money doesn't grow on threads.

My CPU cores idle at around ~45-53 C°

Thanks for your help,
Henry.

PC SPECS (Important ones):

Intel i7 6700K 4.0GHz
GTX 980 G1 Gaming 4G
G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 8G RAM
Corsair H110i GT High-Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
Antec 750W Gold Full Modular Gaming Power Supply Unit

EDIT: When I talk about crashing I mean my PC crashes, not my games. - computer freezing entirely having to restart by flicking power switch off and on.

I had the same issue as you, I have the same CPU cooler but I have a 7700K. What fixed it for me was downloading the Corsair Link software (You can download it here http://www.corsair.com/en-us/downloads#download_form_80 ) And then waiting for the program to detect your CPU cooler, then changing the fan profile for your radiator to performance, or normal or quiet.

I think what happens is when you don't have corsair link, the pump in the cooler doesn't run or it runs at a really low rpm, same with fans, after changing the fan and pump profiles my temps dropped by 30 degrees celsius.

Cant be, my drivers are up to date and I've made sure of that.

My game doesn't crash, my PC does.
