This is my first pc build so I'm not sure if I did something wrong. I have started the PC up with no problems but other times it work start and make a long beep then 2 short beeps. The mobo has an ez debug led light indicator which points to the Vga when it does not work.

-asus b250m pro-vd
-gigabyte Gefore GTX 1050 ti
-intel Pentium g4560
-Corsair Vengeance LPX 4GB DDR4 2400

I built this pc for gaming mainly which I have been doing when it does start up but i don't know if my gpu is bad or something causing it to not start . Any help would be appreciated.

Solution
If you GPU card is installed and the video cables are connected to the GPU card, then it is being used whether it is in safe mode or not.

It's possible there was a driver problem but usually that only affects the system once it has begun booting into windows, not before that. I'd bet there was just a problem with the card not being fully seated and somewhere along the way you got it seated correctly or got one of the connectors fully seated. Problems with hardware don't just fix themselves so something has to be different than it was before OR it's just a fluke that it booted this time, or ten times, and there could still be a hardware issue.

Try shutting down and then restarting, to see if the problem happens from a cold boot or not.
One long beep followed by two short beeps is no memory detected. Remove your memory and reseat it. Probably a good idea to remove your graphics card and reseat it as well. Likely this is just a poor connection from a card or module that is not fully seated.

When reseating be sure to FULLY seat the memory module or graphics card, and check to see that the GPU card is fully seated and then slide the PCIe lock into place at the base of the graphics card.

For the memory, make sure it it is seated at both ends, until you see the lock tabs engage the cutouts at each end of the memory.

I've checked that the GPU and memory were set properly but the problem is occurs. Could it be that the GPU is faulty? Everything turn on when the power is pressed ,the fans on the GPU spin but I still get the beep code . I'm lost .

Then most likely you either have a bad memory module or the GPU card might be failing.

Have you tried moving the memory to a different slot?

Might just be worth removing the memory AND the graphics card, then reinstalling them. Sometimes just reseating one of them cures the issue.

I've moved the memory card to a different slot and I've been reseating both of them but it still happens , but what really has me confused is how the PC will turn on and normally if I keep turning it off and on after a good while of doing it. And if the PC starts up fine and I shut it down with even touching it, the next day it'd start beeping again when I try turning it on .

Edit: is there any way of knowing if it's the GPU or the memory that is failing ?

That's just about the worst PSU that EVGA sells. Not good quality at all for a gaming system, but since your graphics card is fairly low powered it should be ok-ish. Might also depend on how old it is. Is that unit new or have you had it for a while?

I think you probably need to go back through and check everything at the following link, even if you think you already did, and if nothing turns up then you will need to bench test it as outlined at the next link.

Also, make sure you connected the 4 or 8 pin EPS 12v power connector to the motherboard IN ADDITION TO the 24 pin ATX connector. Many people forget to connect the EPS connector that supplies additional power to the CPU. Most, probably all systems will not boot without this connected.

I tried it without the graphics card and it booted up so I'm able to get into the boot menu but can't start up windows. At least it doesn't make the beeps and that pretty much sums it down to the GPU I'm using.

All the part for the build arrived mid last month, the thing is that the PC started up a couple of times already, meaning that in those moments everything worked perfectly. I'm able to get into the bios with the IGPU so I believe it's the GPU I ordered that's to blame . So I guess I'm gonna have to replace it :/

Okay so I managed to get the GPU to be detected and no more beeping but it boots and goes to a BSOD error from widows saying "inaccessible boot device". So it went from a small chance of starting up , to no chance up starting up correctly. :/ :/

If it has already thrown GPU card and BSOD boot device errors, then unless you have a bad graphics card AND a bad storage drive, or unless you improperly connected something, even for only a second and caused damage, then it seems like either you have a power supply issue or a problem with the motherboard.

Those are the only two items that would be likely to have an effect on both the PCI and SATA systems.

the only power cable I have been disconnecting and reconnecting was the one to my GPU , and I made sure to connect it properly. The only things I've been moving are my GPU and ram , just to reseat . I don't understand how this could have moved the problem down to the mobo or storage drive.

Okay so I can manage to boot the system up and get on my desktop only in safe mode though, so I believe the GPU is to blame here since it's not being ran in safe mode right?

EDIT: after restarting from safe mode it booted up like normal. I am so confused. What just happened, was something faulty?? From bsod , I booted to safe mode and restart then it begins to work ? Wat.

guys, let me share my solution.

Story:
I have built 2 new PCs
  • MSI B550, ryzen 5600x, corsair vengance ram
  • and msi B450. ryzen 3100, g.skill ram,
  • tested with three video cards 6770, gtx 970, radeon 5600xt , two new power supplies, 4 sticks of various ram etc

Problem:
when installation was complete, i was getting 1 long , 2 short beeps
I've tried everything - replacing psu, graphic card, removing gpu, changing ram, removing disks, even upgrading BIOS
nothing worked - i was still getting 1 long, 2 short beeps

=> Reason was that I have not connected the monitor. ( I think PC didn't know which port should be used for displaying image, maybe it tried to use the one on motherboard)

=> My Solution: I've connected PC with a monitor. (in my case I used Display Port)

At the beginning I got the error, but PC started - which confused me.
Next boot-ups were / are without errors.

I hope this helps someone. (double check the monitor and cable)

I made an account here just to thank you, I've been working on fixing this exact issue, I went through different ram, GPUs, and I never thought this would be the fix. I have been using a TV (monitor size but technically a TV) as a monitor and it doesn't turn on automatically with the PC thus it doesn't get detected. I want to scream because I've put in so many hours just to come to such a simple conclusion. Thank you mate I hope you have a good one.
