I own a Hp laptop with windows 10 and i have looked and checked every point of my laptop and have found out it only supports 2.4 ghz wifi connection.

So my question how can i allow my laptop to connect to my wifi which has both a 2.4 ghz and 5ghz wifi access points.

I am connected to 2.4ghz now but laptop does not recognize 5ghz and will not even show .

Due to laptop being 2.4ghz compatible only. So is there something i can buy to allow my laptop to connect to my 5ghz wifi?

Not sure that brand. Try to avoid the very tiny devices there antenna are also very small and they do not perform as well as more moderate size devices.

I would first look for a internal device if it is possible. The antenna on a laptop are behind the screen in most machines and work much better than usb devices/

You should be able to replace the internal wifi card with one that supports both 2.4 and 5g. In general any card that is designed to go into internal slot in your machine should work. Problem is some laptop manufactures have put restrictions in the bios....mostly to force you to buy from them. This has become less common but you need to ensure that there are not restrictions.

You can also use a external USB connected nic. These will work on pretty much any laptop but some people dislike having to carry around another device and prefer the internal cards.

It may not make a difference going to 5g. Most times people do this to avoid interference from neighbors. The downside to 5g is it does not have as good coverage in many houses because it does not penetrate walls as easy as 2.4g

So what i need for an external option if my laptop doesnt have the option to remove and install internal is something along the lines of a Wifi Usb Adapter? Will this allow me to connect to my 5ghz connection?

This is on amazon something like this? Manufacturer: Net Dyn: Top Dual Band USB Wireless WiFi Adapter, AC1200, 5GHz and 2.4GHZ (867Mbps/300Mbps)

Thank You for timely response also.
