Hey :)

I just checked the compatibility of my CPU and new Mobo on pcpartpicker.com and it's telling me this :

"Some Intel B85 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Haswell Refresh CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions."

I have read about this on other Posts but I wasn't able to find out if they really are compatible.. Couldn't find anything on MSI's Website either.

My new Mobo :
MSI B85M-G43
My CPU : Intel - Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor

Any ideas? :/

Probably not compatible without a bios update unless it was one that came off the assembly line late in the production run. To update you'll need a pre-Refresh Haswell CPU to install long enough to update the bios or you'll have to send the motherboard to MSI to have it updated. If you haven't already bought the motherboard, getting an H97 or Z97 motherboard might be a better option.

You might also be able to find out according to your specific motherboard serial number by contacting MSI directly. They should be able to tell your if your motherboard was one with a newer or older bios version. Or you can just try it and see. Won't hurt anything to try booting with it installed. It will either work, or it won't.

Alright, thank you for the advice :) Once it's here, I'll let MSi know and see what's up. If it just happens to not be compatible, I'll start looking for another one.. Gotta live with broken sound for one more week, I guess xd
