I bought a new WD green 500gb hard drive and wanted to install windows 10 on it but during the installation the power went out for a few minutes so I opened the pc to repeat the process again it states that my free space on the new hard drive is 0 and the delete button is gray

thanks
Ask me if any extra info is needed.

Clean the drive and restart install process.
Boot from windows install media, go to command prompt and execute:
  • diskpart
    list disk
select disk 0 (verify that you select the right disk. Next command destroys any data on the drive.)
    clean
    exit
Reboot and relaunch windows install.

clean is the specific command.
But you need to do the preceding steps to get to the proper drive.

Give us the full text of what appears on your screen, including the parts that you don't type.
This is probably just trying to read from the wrong folder or drive.

For instance:
The exact text of "C:\Users\YourName\ diskpart.exe" will fail, because it is trying to read from the wrong drive and folder.

So what does yours show.
A screencap if possible.
