Linking of 2 gigabit switch

I'm trying to connect my 24 port dlink gigabit swith with 8 port dlink gigabit switch using direct connection 568B
But my 8port swith is not connecting with 24port swith. Please suggest the right connection

What are model numbers of these switches?
Are you using straight Cat5e/Cat6 Ethernet cable between them?

When you state its 568B I presume you made the cable? In which case I would suggest re-terminate and try again. Have you anyway of testing the cable?
