Okay, so I'm well known in my town for liking to tinker with computers/older electronics. Awhile back, someone gave me an old Windows XP machine for free. I took the machine and fiddled around with it for a while and then put it away. Recently, I've been cleaning my house and found the old computer. I looked through it and I have nothing of use for any of the components besides the hard drive. I'd like to use the drive for extra storage as I'm a photographer. However, to do this I'd need to remove the OS and unfortunately I don't have a Windows XP installation CD to remove the operating system off of it. How can I remove the OS and files on the drive?

Plug the drive into your system, click start, search for "computer management" when that window opens click on the left side on Disk management.
after a short moment, you should see your new drive installed.
MAKE SURE YOUR DOING THE FOLLOWING ON THE DRIVE YOU WANT TO DO IT ON !
Right click on the drive you need to remove the partition on, select "delete volume" once done, ritgh click on it again and select " new simple volume"
format it, your done,
you now have a data drive
if you select the wrong drive and do this on your main drive you will end up with a dead computer and lost all your data so be careful.

Hi i need help, i followed the process for deleting the partition on the secind drive, i selected delete volune but it does not show in cimputer management anymire, so cant select simple volume.
