I recently got a SAMSUNG 850 EVO mSATA 250GB SATA III 3D NAND Internal SSD Single Unit Version MZ-M5E250BW and a Seagate FireCuda Gaming SSHD 2TB SATA 6.0Gb/s 2.5" Notebooks / Laptops Internal Hard Drive ST2000LX001 for my laptop which has 8gb RAM and Windows 10 x64. The mSATA port on my motherboard is on 3gb/s and the other is 6gb/s. My original plan was to use the mSATA for my OS and everything else on the FireCuda. At the time I hadn’t given consideration to the gb/s but now I’m wanting to know if that is the best way to go given the limitations of the mSATA port. Any suggestions is appreciated or just confirmation that my original plan is still the best way to go. Thanks in advance.

Definitely put your OS on that SSD in the faster (6.0Gb/s) port and then other data on the FireCuda. It's the best way to get the most out of both of your investments here because mechanical drives aren't usually known to make the full use of the SATA connection speed anyways, and particularly in your case, you've got a SSHD with the spinning capacity having 5,400 RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) so it just makes more sense to utilize it that way.

Unfortunately I can’t put the mSATA in the SSHD’s spot. The way it’s setup on my motherboard my mSATA SSD has to go into the 3gb/s spot. I just wasn’t sure of which drive would be best suited for the OS given the speed limitations of the SSD compared to the 6gb/s of the SSHD.

The mSATA drive will still be 'faster', even if it is in the SATA II port.
