Hi, I've replaced the thermal paste on my cpu and noticed my temps go super high after doing so (99c) I've tried re applying the paste 5 or 6 times now, no difference. What maybe the problem? My method of applying the paste or? My application method is just a half a pea size blob then diagonally screening the cooler on top.

Specs are GTX 980, i7 4790k, Corsair H55, Z97-g55 SLI

Are you sure the fan is working?
Did you clean the CPU and Heatsink between each application?

I use my own application method that I call 'Wet Blob'
Put a half grain of rice on both of the heatspreaders.
Use a piece of paper to spread it around with your finger tip.
Press hard, cover everything and 99% of it will rub off.
You just want to get the surfaces wet and fill the micro pores.
Then use the normal blob.

I find I get 100% coverage, with no extra and good temps.

That looks fine.
I suspect the water cooler pump is dead.

Anyway i can test it? This problem only occurred when i got a new PSU and re-did my thermal paste so it seems very unlikely they'd both go at the same time but still possible.

Good job diagnosing the problem!

I hope you can return the water cooler to be fixed. I really don't know much about those things.
Can you get a temporary air cooled heat sink until you get a new AIO?

I've gotten a cooler master tx3, trying to get the back place off f the old one now but when I try and unscrew the last one the back plate screw is moving with it so I can't get the thing off
