I have 2 drives, a 120GB SSD that has the operating system and essential programs, and a 3TB HDD for games, movies, photos and everything else. Recently when I logged on, I notice in Task Manager that the 120GB OS drive was hovering around 85-100% even though I was running no other programs. Resource Moniter showed lots ofbit reading and writing but I don't know what to do with the information it gave me. Suspecting it was a virus, I did virus scans from Windows Defender and Malwarebytes but they detected nothing wrong. I deleted temporary files but that changed nothing. I ran SMART tests of the drive from Data Lifeguard. Both the quick and extended test gave the drive a pass. I read on the internet that you are not supposed to department an SSD. So I don't know what else I can do.

Are you sure it's not just software on your computer accessing the drive? Things like antivirus software will constantly access your drives under normal conditions. You may be just chasing a ghost that doesn't exist. Are you even experiencing any slowdowns?

The drive has been close to 100% for 2 days on both times I booted on the PC. I don't know how to see from Resource Monitor if it is routine scans from anti virus software. I don't notice any apparent slowdown in internet browser or virus scans.
