Hello,

i have the Asus Z-170 Pro Gaming motherboard. I just bought an i7-7700k intel for it.

Can anyone PLEASE upload me the .CAP bios file for it, so i can flash it. it is 3016 version. from what i read i might brick the mobo? is it another more stable bios version that might be better to support the i7 kaby lake?

i extracted the zip file from Asus site but i can't turn it into the .CAP file.

please help,
thank you so much

Download bios version 3501. when it finishes downloading find the file that you just downloaded in the folder where it is located. Right click on the file and it should give you the option to extract the file. That should give you the .cap file. if it doesn't give you the option then go to the windows store and look for 7-zip or other "unzip" decompression app that will decompress the file.

also, i saw some peope havig issues with the 3016 bios version for this motherboard (bricked mobo)
What would be the best version to flash that supports i7-7700k?

Latest Bios file is 3501 for Z170 PRO GAMING MB available from ASUS Support. It is a zipped file so download to a directory of choice and unzip the file. Once unzipped, rename the file to Z17PG.CAP then transfer the file to your USB.

The USB should be empty and formatted to FAT32. Go into your Bios>Tools>EZ Flash 3 utility.
With the USB in the correct USB port, select "by USB" then select the drive field that contains the .CAP file. After it has finished, remove the USB, reboot and you should be good to go.

There is always a risk with flashing Bios however do not power down your system during Bios flash and hope there is no power outage as this is the risk you take.

I downloaded that file last night, i used winzip to extract but it gives me a folder with numerous files inside...none of them is CAP file. Am i doing something wrong? i didn't used 7-zip though. will it be different?
