Okay so I have a a sabertooth 990fx r3 and a Asus strix rog 480x and a Radeon xfx 480x I have them both plugged in with the strix in the first slot xfx in the 3rd slot as directed by Asus per Mobo.. when i pull up wattman under system it says my primary/master/discrete the strix says it's pcie 2 8x and my linked/discrete xfx is 16x it's got to be affecting gameplaying im noticing studdering in the frame rate that I didn't get before when I only have one plugged In. Please help I've checked the bios therr doesn't seem to be much in the way of pcie options

When dual cards are installed, you should still be able to achieve dual x16 on that board....... but if you have anything installed in the 3rd x16 slot, you'll be running x16 + x8 + x8

FWIW, your stuttering is going to be due to CFx, and not the x16 slot.

An older test, but newer tests don't tend to include PCIe 2.0 that you have.

So even though the MOBO manual directs you to use 1st and 3rd slot for best performance you're saying that's where the problem lies.. wow I should said I it to the second slot? And that's a good article but being that I have an am3 board and processor it's running on a pcie 2 not 3.. Otherwise I don't think it would really make a did.

That is correct sir. Just the 2 cards in the first and third slot per Asus reccomendation. I have a m.2 drive plugged into the m.2 slot on the M obo. It is NOT in a pcie slot.

My only guess is that the M.2 slot shares bandwidth with one of the PCIe slots, but there's no mention of that in the mobo manual. At this point you may have to contact Asus, because what you're doing should work.

You can also try moving the 2nd card to a different slot, but I doubt that will help. You definitely have the 2nd card in the 3rd PCIe slot, counting as you move down from the CPU (PCIe 2.0x16_3), i.e. the 4th PCIe slot if you count the PCIe x1 slot?

Yeah def. In the right slot. Contacting Asus is my next step. Last time I called I had an idiot come on the line. I was trying to find out what the deal with the tuf
turbo fan was. Still don't know. There is a slot for one but it's oddly shaped won't hold a 40mm.
Guess that's for another thread hey thanx ..
