Ok here is the deal. I got a Radeon rx 580, the 8gb one. Gpu-z tells me my memory size is 8912 but can I run it says I have 2gbDo I have a full 8gb I can use for gaming or is half of it being used somewhere?

Solution
It is possible your card is carrying the wrong BIOS based on what I see in the GPUZ screen shot, therefore GPUZ is unrealiable as a resource as well. If you want a direct answer to your question, take the card out of the case or get it's box and tell me the part number that is on the actual card and I'll be glad to give you a direct answer.

any game I play most likely isn’t gonna de over 4gb so not like I could tell anyway. Can you just tell from the photos I included?

Hm... missed those links. Basically they show different information on the same thing. Personally I would trust GPU-Z over Can I Run It? And there's a particular phrase on the Can I Run It? screenshot: "Minimum attributes of your Video Card". And 4GB is the minimum for the RX 580. It could be argued there is no contradiction. I suspect someone with a GTX 1060 6GB model will also have 3GB show up in a similar screenshot if the site doesn't distinguish these things clearly.

Depending on your Windows version, assuming Windows, Task Manager will also have some info on the graphics card too. Basically what you want is a way to verify either result. I would consider other hardware monitors too.

And MSI Afterburner can help you see how much VRAM is being used even if you're not playing a game if you're still seeking answers on where the usage has gone. That may provide some peace of mind.

so all I need to know is, where it says 8gb video memory and 4 gb shared system memory. Does that mean that 4gb of my vram is being used by my pc?

No, windows confuses you with the shared 4GB of Vram, video cards have always been able to map to system resources, games normally do not allow this however because of the impossible lag that would incur.

The shared memory is system RAM, theoretically, that can be used.

Looking at your GPUZ screen shot I see it lists 0 and 0 for the current GPU speed and RAM speed. Did you try and flash a 4 Gig card with an 8 Gig BIOS?

Look I have no clue what any of this means. If you can answer just yes or no, so I have 8gb of vram?
