Greetings,

When ordering my drive but ended up ordering a Toshiba HDWD120 2TB from my usual retailer, maybe relevant in the past every single time I ordered a drive from this place the drives came in special inflatable hard drive jackets that hold the drive tightly between pockets of air this one came just in a box with large inflated air bubbles placed around but the drive was more resting directly against the cardboard box, anyways unpacked plugged it in and everything seemed fine.

fast forward maybe a couple of months once every few days while the pc is active at a random time the drive will just come out and make a random "spin up" sound.

whats wrong with that ?

the page file is on the drive so it should be kept alive and not sleeping.

I have sleeping disabled.

one time writing a large image file to sdcard the drive made this sound and windows spat out "system could not read the specified file" or something to that effect and the transfer stopped. no other error things continued and starting over worked fine.

anyway when it happens it it dosn't crash the system.
given how infrequent it happens (maybe once every several days) I can't really do any tests.

I ran toshiba scan tool in both basic and full it said "ok" or "good" in green I forget

I have tried it on a different power socket, different sata port and 3 different sata cables ended on a locking clip cable.

tldr
anyone have a Toshiba HDWD120 have experience with what noises? should I try RMA this for peace of mind? (would hate it to randomly die and take everything with it)

Thanks
