All of my PC's USB ports stopped working

I had noticed in past that sometimes some of my peripherals would only work through certain USB ports only, but what happened today was the first issue of this kind.

My new-ish PC has five USB 3.0 ports (three through the motherboard and two on the upper side of the case) and one USB 3.1 port. I used these to connect my mouse, keyboard, audio system, mouse mat (for lighting), infrared camera and racing wheel, with the help of a single USB hub.

I was working as usual today when my mouse malfunctioned (after I spilled liquid on it) and I had to switch to a backup mouse (Razer Orochi) I had used on my laptop but not my PC.

I connected it, and its lights flashed, but then they went off again and the mouse was not recognised. What started from here was that I tried connecting a third mouse, then trying alternate USB ports, and with every attempt at connecting/disconnecting a device, gradually the PC stopped recognising any of the devices. The Device Manager would list some of the peripherals with the warning sign icon, then at the end it only recognised my keyboard + an unknown device, and now finally I cannot even log into Windows as my keyboard is not recognised through any of the ports. The ports do work during the bootup phase (in BIOS etc) but not any more once the Windows log-in screen is reached.

I tried the Scan for Hardware Changes option numerous times, as well as uninstalling USB ports through Device Manager and then restarting, but nothing seems to work.

I use the Gygabyte G1 Gaming GA-Z170N Gaming 5 motherboard and Windows 10 64-bit. Full specs here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KdZLHN

Solution
Okay so I solved the issue by simply restoring my Windows to an earlier restore point. All USB ports are now functioning fine. I have to disconnect my peripherals about once a week to make room for cleaning my room though, so I sense the issue might come back in the future.
