Hi I'm planning a new build. Could you tell me whether there is a x299 board which supports at least one m2 slot from the CPU. NOT FROM THE X299 CHIPSET

Yes, I think there are only two mobos that fit your requirement (Asus ROG boards):

Asus ROG Rampage VI Apex
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-RAMPAGE-VI-APEX/specifications/
Has 2x DIMM.2 slots for up to 4x total M.2 devices (2x M.2 per DIMM slot). The first (left) DIMM.2 slot (CPU_DIMM.2) is wired directly to the CPU, while the second (right) DIMM.2 slot (PCH_DIMM.2) is wired to the Chipset/PCH. So, this motherboard has two M.2 slots from the CPU.

Asus ROG Rampage VI Extreme
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-RAMPAGE-VI-EXTREME/specifications/
Has a total of 3x M.2 devices/slots (1x ROG.DIMM.2 (CPU), 1x ROG.DIMM.2 (PCH), and 1x PCIe3.0 M.2 (PCH)). So, this motherboard has one M.2 slot from the CPU.
*Note that this mobo only supports Intel 44x or 28x lane CPUs (it does not support 16x lane CPUs).

Thank you for the effort, but my budget is already being badly exceeded by the base x299 system, so I just cannot consider a 400$+ mobo.
On reflection is there a x370 mobo that instead of x16 to x8+x8 can do x16 to x8+x4 (for udation with future optane)+m2. For the GPU range i'm looking at x8 is more than enough.

My budget including 16x4 memory+CPU+Mobo+pro graphics (I need 10 bit support)+case etc etc, is 2000$.
My workload will probably work very well on TR, but I want to know if there is any intel alternative.
