Can you help me out?
The ROG has a 1050 ti and an i7 7700hq while the y 520 has an i5 5300hq with a gtx 1060 max q 6 gb .
They are roughly the same price , the y520 is about 60 usd cheaper.
Will the less powerful i5 bottleneck the 1060 max q?
Also i've seen that the ROG isn't too hot keeping temps below 85C but i didn't find any temperature benchmark on the y520 with the 1060 maxq so i am scared that it will throttle.
Thanks in advance!

Edit:
The y 520 has a 5400 rpm hdd is that too slow ? will it be noticeable in any game ?
Also forgot to mention i need it mostly for gaming .
I prefer High fps over ultra graphics.

I couldn’t seem to find the specified Lenovo Y520 with a 1060 an i5 and a HDD. But this is the closest thing I could find: http:// For the price point it’s not very good. I would expect 16GBs of RAM and if in fact it is a Max Q laptop. The 1060 will run at slower clock speeds. However I think I found the ASUS laptop you were talking about: http:// It’s $150 cheaper and has better specs except for the 1050ti. Which is slightly worse than the 1060 but as an owner of a 1050ti I can say they are solid 1080p cards. And since you’d rather have high FPS you can easily turn some settings down into medium-high range easily. If these aren’t the correct laptops though it’d be nice if you could give out some links :)

I like the Lenovo keyboards.
For gaming, the stronger graphics is probably more important.
It is easy to add a m.2 ssd.
If you buy a Samsung ssd, you can move the os easily from the hard drive to the ssd using the Samsung ssd migration tool.
The hard drive can still be used for bulk storage.
I would always do this.

^and this for the ROG
I am sorry that they are in a foreign language but i couldn't find almost an documentation on the specific y520
They both have a solid reduction in price as you can see
The ROG is around 989 $ after a 17%reduction in price while the y520 is around 929$ after a 21% reduction in price
I am not sure if the website has an english version but just scroll down a bit to find the specs of each laptop. They are mostly numbers so the language souldn't be a problem.

Go with the Lenovo. There are drawbacks to both but you have to compromise somewhere. The Lenovo has a better GPU but a worse CPU but the difference between a 1050ti and a 1060 is greater than an i7-7700HQ and an i5-7300HQ. So you’ll want the 1060 for better gaming performance. It also has an extra terabyte of storage compared to the ASUS. I like the ASUS laptop because I trust their brand and they usually make quality laptops but in light of gaming the Lenovo is the better choice.
