Can't access my router's settings, LAN does not work on it while WI-FI does.

Recently, I tried to connect an ethernet cable to my Dlink Dir-615 router and it didn't work for some reason. It's stuck on a loop where the PC tried to identify the network constantly to no avail.

I then figured to try to access the settings, but using the default "192.168.0.1" IP adress only directs me to the modem's settings page, not the router's (even if I'm connected through the router's wi-fi). If I use "192.168.1.1" it says "connection blocked.

I realize some routers block acess to the settings through wi-fi, but the ethernet cable simply won't work. I've tried tuning everything off and on again, disconnecting the WAN port on the router and using an ethernet cable to access it (which still doesn't work). I'm not sure if both the modem and router are on the same IP adress, and either way I can't connect to the router via ethernet cable to confirm.

Wi-Fi is working perfectly though.

I'm at a complete loss on what to do, and google searching is not helping either. The only thing I haven't tried yet is to reset the router to factory settings, because I'm afraid ethernet will still not work (therefore making me unable to so much as use the wi-fi connection) and also having to set up all the wi-fi connections again will be a pain (I use multiple wi-fi extenders).

If 192,168,0.1 opens the modem, and 192.168.1.1 opens the router this means your modem is also a router, just with a single port.

Whichever way you connect to the router (.1.1): What does the WAN status say?? What IP address you have? You might want to put your modem in "bridge" mode, and move any ISP authentication to the router.

This still does not explain why you can't connect over Etherhet to the router. Try connecting directly to the modem, you might have faulty cable / Ethernet port on either computer or router.

Sorry, I forgot to mention I'm a pretty big noob on this whole thing, so I'll have to ask of you to explain to me how to provide all this information to you, if possible of course.

The problem is that I had a technician set the whole thing up (I was with him the whole time, of course, but I didn't really understand everything that was happenning). I do remember it being possible to access the router's settings though.

I don't know if my modem is also a router, but just to clarify, when I refer to the router here I mean a different piece of equipment altogether.

Also, as far as I'm aware, it's not a faulty cable when it comes to the Ethernet. I have tested it with two different cables, both of which work fine when plugged directly to the modem.
