Is quad-core cpu's like 7400 enough for the next 3 years of gaming?

Solution
If he has a 7400 I doubt he is going to want to replace the motherboard for a 8400. So to answer the original question will it be good enough for 3 more years? Well that depends on the Resolution and settings doesn't it? Many people are still playing modern games on CPU's that are pushing 10 years old like Phenom II X4 965's, Q9650's and I7 920's most of those are as strong as a FX 6300 @ 7 years old. If he is expecting 60+ fps out of a 7400, well it's not capable of doing that now in quite a few titles. So OP what is your expectations?

Yes and no...
It will be good enough for games for a while but only time will tell how high system requirements get. On the other hand you'd probably still be able to play most games if you just lower the graphics settings.

If you're considering a CPU for a new build I would look at the 8400 it's significantly faster ...enough that 3 years of usage wouldn't be a bit surprising... but of course no one can predict the future.

I only want 1080p 60fps low medium settings for the next 3 years, can a 7500 do it?
