I have a GTX 1080.
Short and skinny: when I open a game - fullscreen or windowed, doesn't matter - I see the game for a few seconds, and then, as strange as it sounds, my computer will display what my computer looked like for the very first game I opened since turning the computer on. [If it is my first time launching a game, my screen will freeze for about five seconds after its already been open for three seconds]. It will remain frozen whilst displaying what I can only call an artifact, and will correct itself in around five-or-so seconds. Everything about the computer - old tabs, the time, etc - is included in this artifact. As if I just booted a screenshot that I took once.
It is driving me insane. I have reinstalled my drivers twice and have no idea even how to properly articulate this issue, let alone solve it.

Additional Specs:
Gigabyte GA‑Z97X‑Gaming 5 Motherboard
500GB Samsung SSD
6700K
Windows 7 OS

BIOS up to date with most recent image?

I understand you've reinstalled the drivers twice, but, have you done it the recommended way with a clean install using the Wagnard Display Driver Uninstaller?

*How to perform a CLEAN installation of your graphics card drivers

And this is kind of important, or may be, so we kind of need the real here. Is the operating system legit or is it a shady copy?

Are there any third party gameplay recording or other applications installed that you suspect might be involved OR that are themselves of questionable origin?

I know there are some applications that make shadow copies of the gameplay, and I kind of suspect that a corrupted version of something like that might be what's...

I know there are some applications that make shadow copies of the gameplay, and I kind of suspect that a corrupted version of something like that might be what's happening, but it's kind of early to say on that.

When was the last time a clean install of the operating system was done, and was it actually a clean install or just a reinstall?

What, exactly, is the model number of your power supply? Might not be relevant, but I'd still like to know because every time I don't ask that, it turns out to be the problem even when it seems COMPLETELY unrelated.

Performing a clean unisntall with Wagnar did the trick. Thanks.
And yes, OS is legitimate.

Nice job. Glad that worked for you.

Just as an aside, I don't personally care a whit whether your OS is legit or not, it's just that sometimes some of these shady copies that a lot of folks end up with totally end up being the REASON they are having problems, so to the extent that it sometimes is the problem it's just good to ask.

Glad it worked out for you though. Good luck to you.
